Talking to the Team – U18 Sophie Mason

Ahead of the Frickley under 18 championships next week, we caught up with a few members of the FOMO sponsored squad to learn a bit more about the partnerships that make up the team and how their preparations are going.

Next up is Sophie…

Who are you?: My name is Sophie Mason and I am 17 years old and have just recently finished my final year of high school and am now on a gap year before going to study Law at the University of Aberdeen.

Tell us a bit about your pony: My horses name is Pebbly Limited Edition, otherwise known as Bally at home. He is a 15.1 16 year old grey gelding who I have had the pleasure of riding for the past 2 years.

How long have you been eventing and what level do you compete at? I have been Eventing for the past 2 years and have gone from BE80 level to BE100 level which I currently compete at.

Tell us a bit about your achievements/results this year: This year I have competed at various BE events across the country where for the majority of them I have been placed in the top ten. At the beginning of the season I competed at the Mitsubishi Motors Cup BE100 Championships at Badminton Horse Trials, Bally was a superstar and we were placed just in the top half. This was a truly amazing experience and one that I will certainly never forget.

What are you looking forward to most about heading to the championships? I am most looking forward to getting to know the rest of my teammates as well as seeing what the cross country course looks like!
